Report on the Fieldtrip trip to England 04.03-10.03.2019

From 4 to 10 March 2019, a cultural and educational trip of students of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas to London, England, was organized by Gubkin SPE Student Chapter. 6 students took part in the trip (Dmitry Dyubin, Victoria Chebotova, Ekaterina Orlova, Diana Basyrova, Alexandra Oberemok, Anastasiia Afanasova).

The program included a one and a half day program at the Imperial College London and five days devoted to sightseeing in London.

During the first day of the educational program at the Imperial College London, the guys visited a lecture on Managing Risks in Oil and Gas Major Projects. After the lecture, they talked to Imperial College students and took part in a Quiz, dedicated to famous women.

On the second day, a meeting was held with the SPE chapters of the Imperial College, the University of Portsmouth, the University of Manchester and the University of Leeds. Thus, five SPE chapters took part in the meeting. The meeting included a lunch of national cultures, a tour through the university, an excursion at the petrophysical laboratory, a lecture by a specialist from British Petroleum about his career path and a lecture on data analysis. After that there were presentations of the meeting participants. Alexandra Oberemok told about our University, and Dmitry Dyubin presented the recently launched PetroStage project. Next, English students accompanied our students to the cultural program.

On other days, the guys enjoyed the beauty of London. They visited such landmarks as Big Ben, London Eye, St. James’s Park, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace and much more. Everyone enjoyed the trip and communication with English students.
