From 7th to 9th of November, 2018, the Student Technical Conference took place in the city of Freiberg (Germany). The event was organized jointly by the German professional SPE section and all SPE student sections in Germany.

At the conference, students from universities of Germany, Austria and Russia had the opportunity to speak in front of teachers, professors, young specialists in the oil and gas industry, to present their research work related to drilling, development, geology and geophysics.

A rich cultural program took place: participants could visit one of the oldest museums of minerals in the world (Terra Mineralia) or go down to the 150-meter training mine at the Freiberg Mining Academy base and get acquainted with research laboratories.

Before the conference, a round table was held, where students, together with the leadership of the German section of the SPE (GSSPE), made presentations of their chapters, outlined current problems, discussed ways to solve them, and identified ways for further development.

Along with student reports, the event was graced by a press conference of specialists from Wintershall, Halliburton, Deutsche Erdöl AG, where young engineers shared tips on building a successful career and answered questions of interest.

Having delivered 20-minute lectures, Gubkin University was presented by Anton Babenko and Sofia Shoshkich, poster presentations (posters) were defended by Alexandra Oberemok, Sergey Chebotar and Victoria Konopleva.
