On the 25th of October 2018 there was a lecture from a specialist of the company «Salym Petroleum Development N.V.» Dmitry Alexandrovich Chaplygin on the topic: “Hydraulic fracturing: prospects and trends in Russia”.

The lecture was organized by the student section of Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter. Students learned about the history of hydraulic fracturing, the stages of fracturing, as well as how sanctions may affect future development prospects.

In the material of the lecture illustrations were presented, they contained the operation of pump-compressor pipes, which carry out hydraulic fracturing, as well as graphs, allowing to determine the dependence of one formation characteristic when applying hydraulic fracturing. Also, this method of influence on the reservoir was considered by the lecturer from a commercial point of view.
The event was attended by about 30 students. The students were very interested in this topic, they asked their questions.
