FUTURE PETROLEUM ENGINEERS FORUM IN BEIJING

On 18th and 19th May the international student conference, the “Future Petroleum Engineers Forum” was held in Beijing.

Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas was represented by 4 students: 
Milena Sokolova, master student of the 1st course, with a presentation entitled: «Assessment of the prospects for the biofuel market development in Russia», 
Ziyad Emirov, 2nd year student of magistracy, with a presentation entitled: «The technology of coiled tubing drilling using an electric downhole motor», 
Fahime Hadavimoghaddam, PhD student, took 3rd place with a presentation on «Using machine learning to predict reservoir fluid properties», 
Masoud Mostajeran Gortani, PhD student, made a presentation on the topic: “Performance of Polymer Flooding in a Heavy Oil Reservoir (A Case Study)” All articles also published in the proceedings of the forum.

The program of the forum included lectures, case-championship, PetroCup Contest, conference in the format of presentations and poster session. In addition to the official part of the volunteers was a tour of the Great wall of China. And at the end of the forum’s official part activists of the University held a national culture’s day, the program included songs, dance, as well as foreign students learned to write Chinese characters.

The team took 3rd place in the PetroCup Contest, it included two students of Gubkin University: Milena Sokolova and Ziyad Emirov, Vladislav Polyansky from Tomsk Polytechnic University and Silva Tatikyan from Bashkir State University.  Participation in the international forum in the oil and gas industry allowed students to exchange technical experience as well as to find new opportunities for further cooperation.
