On the 26th of March 2018 students of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) took part in an excursion to Skoltech Center for Hydrocarbon Recovery, organized by GubkinUniversity SPE Student Chapter. Skoltech Center for Hydrocarbon Recovery was established in December 2013. The main activities of the Center include geomechanics, enhanced oil recovery methods, geophysics and petrophysics of unconventional reservoirs, thermal petrophysics, gas hydrates, hydrodynamic and geomechanical modeling. In the first part of the excursion the participants got acquainted with the structure of the Skolkovo scientific complex and learned about the centers developing at Skoltech Institute of Science and Technology. Then the students of Gubkin University listened to a presentation of educational programs in Petroleum Engineering for undergraduates and graduate students. Representatives of the Hydrocarbon Recovery Center told about opportunities for admission and the educational process. Furthermore, students had an opportunity to learn about current directions of the Center’s research from its employees. In the second part of the excursion, Gubkin University students visited the Center’s laboratories, where core, oil, and gas hydrates are being investigated. In addition to acquaintance with the available equipment and technologies used, the participants of the excursion could communicate with the employees and students of the Center. Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter expresses gratitude to the employees of Skoltech Center for Hydrocarbon Recovery for the organization of the intensiveexcursion program.
